Shrikrishn the Suprememan

Dedicated to shrikrishn the soul of all beings..............................

BEFORE CREATION, ONLY I EXISTED. THERE WAS NEITHER MATTER NOR SPIRIT NOR WAS THERE IGNORANCE. WHERE THERE IS NO CREATION, I EXIST. WHATEVER EXISTS IS ALSO I. WHATEVER REMAINS AFTER ANNIHILATION SHALL BE I. IF ONE IS NOT ABLE TO PERCEIVE ME IT IS BECAUSE OF DELUSION. AS ALL NATURAL ELEMENTS EXIST IN VARIOUS FORMS YET MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENT EXISTENCE IN NATURE, SO AM I THE CAUSE AND CONSTITUTION OF ALL THINGS THAT EXIST, YET INDEPENDENT OF ALL.  EITHER PERCEIVE ME, AS NOWHERE OR EVERYWHERE, IS THE ESSENCE OF KNOWLEDGE. THOSE WHO WISH TO KNOW ME NEED REALIZE ONLY THIS.

LORD SRIKRISHN IN BHAGAVAT PURAN 2/9/32

Stotra by Lord Brahma-Lord Shiv –Dharma

Salutations to you who is the Best, Deserves everything the best, Bestows all boons, Cause of all bestowers of boon, and cause of all living beings.
I salute one that is auspiciousness incarnate, bestows auspiciousness and is the cause of all auspices. Veneration to him who is Brilliance incarnate!
O, Omnipresent! Detached from everything, soul of all beings, away from everything, aloof to all, beyond all logistics. Veneration to him who is Brilliance incarnate!
O, ineffable, manifest, unmanifest, single, self-dependent, omniscient, veneration to you O Brilliance incarnate!
To manifest three properties you appear as Trinity, all other deities are your partial incarnations. O, away from celestial auditions, how can even deities know you? I therefore salute you!
O, Base of all, Manifest as all forms, Cause of all, seed of entire creation, Usurper and Devourer of all, infinite veneration to you, O, Brilliance incarnate!
One that is manifest and endowed with properties can be described by wise men but one who is beyond manifestation how can I describe him? Veneration to you O, Brilliance incarnate!
O, Formless! O, with form! O with senses! O beyond sense organs! O, away from all witnesses and witness of all! Veneration to you O, Brilliance incarnate!
One who reaches everywhere without feet, sees everything without eyes, eats offerings without mouth and hands, veneration to that Brilliance incarnate!
Saints can throw light on that which is prescribed in Vedas but one who is indescribable even by Vedas, my veneration to that Brilliance incarnate!
I am the lawmaker of world, progenitor of Vedas, Lord Dharma is the protector of propriety, Lord Shiv is the destroyer of world but none of us is capable of describing you!
Your grace alone has bestowed ability to sustain righteousness upon Lord Dharma, Your will has appointed Lord Shiv to carry out your decree and only after serving your lotus feet have I become creator of this world.
You are the Lord of All of us devotees. This creation is your mere reflection in which innumerable galaxies float sustaining innumerable servants of your Lordship.
Just as dust and atoms, constituting dust cannot be counted so the number of your servants cannot be counted. However, one who is the progenitor of these creations how can he be described by anyone?
Lord Maha Vishnu whose every single body pore regulates one cosmos even he is your just sixteenth of part in power and prowess.
All yogis meditate upon you and all devotees serve your lotus feet.
O, Lord of All! Bestow upon us your that adolescent form which is enticing, bewitching and is accessible through chanting and meditation.
That form which is dusky like a nimbus cloud, wrapped in golden yellow silken shawl, with two handsome arms playing a flute, spreading a beatific smile, most attractive, crowning a peacock feather, with garlands of malati flowers, anointed with sandalwood paste, aguru, musk, vermilion, bejeweled with golden gems studded ornaments, shimmering crown, a countenance defeating the beauty of lotus flowers blooming in winters, with lips as tender and pink as a ripe fruit of Bimba, with teeth as glistening as seeds of ripe pomegranate fruit, reclining under a Kadamb tree, keen to enter Raasmandala, being gloated by the esurient glances of enamoured Gopis, and that remains enshrined in the heart of Radha, who will not long to see your that form?
Saying so Lord Brahma bowed repeatedly before that bright light appearing in sanctum sanctorum of palace of Radha in Golok. Lord Dharma and Lord Shiv also repeated words of Lord Brahma and bowed with eyes moist before the brilliant light.
In that light then appeared the divine couple, the Parents of Universe, Patrons of all virtues, beauty and auspiciousness whose mere remembrance even in dream, purges one of all impurities and fills the heart with bliss and peace.

            In the moments of pain,
                    Suffering and strife.
                              When all around turn
                                                         Out to be
                                                      Unreliable, unyielding,
                                                                        Tirading spikes!
      You alone come to
                           Wipe off tears
                            From my eyes.
                     You alone come to soothe
                                                My searing wounds.
                                                                               And I know-
                  I feel healed,
                    Rather energized,
                                   More than before!
                                         I stand up to fight
                                                           And face the life
                                                             With manifold pride.
                     For you are my creator,
                                        You alone can be my
                                                                         Saviour, my Christ!

Lord Srikrishn is not merely a name or a word.

Millions of galaxies continue to explode and disappear in the consciousness named Lord Srikrishn. Though He is formless by nature, He acquires the human shape from time to time to fulfill the desires of his devotees who wish to see him in human form, and to unburden the Earth of various evil powers.

The Sanatana Dharma mythology states that he acquires the form of a human or an animal according to the task he wished to accomplish at that particular time; from the form of a tortoise, a boar, a fish  to that of a super human such as Lord Srikrishn. This human/animal form is called an Incarnation which is quite different from that of a mortal being, he does not go through rigorous process of procreation. The form appears and vanishes solely through his will. (Verse 6, Chapter 4, The Bhagvadgita)

Among all the incarnations, Lord Srikrishn, who strode the Earth more than 5100 years ago, appeared with a complete set of powers. That is why He is termed as a PURNAVTAR.  He incarnated along with His Aahladini Shakti RADHA.  They are inseparable from each other, but to perform leela, they appeare as two separate entities, male and female. The male part appeared on the 8th day of Lord Srikrishn paksh (The dark phase of the moon) and the female part during Shukla paksh (The bright phase of the moon) of the same month Bhadrapad (when the Sun is in zodiac sign Virgo). The moon has an identical look/brightness on the 8th day of either Lord Srikrishn or Shukl paksh. It cannot be distinguished by merely looking at moon on the 8th day, as to whether it will be a new moon or full moon. The right side of moon is darker than the left, which signifies the male, and latter is brighter which signifies the female. And they are evenly divided signifying equal status to the better half.

Lord Srikrishn is omnipotent and omniscient, but still does not stop anyone from performing the deeds of his/her choice.  He neither stopped Yuddhisthir from putting his wife, Draupadi at stake during the game of dice, nor did he interfere when Duryodhan and Karn humiliated and insulted Draupadi. Neither did he stop Dushasan from trying to outrage her modesty in the Kuru Raj Sabha. As he clearly declares in the Bhagvad Geeta (Verse 47, Chapter 2) everyone has the complete right to his/her deeds. Even when he is physically present, he protects everyone’s right to make choices and does not interfere with the same. However, he decides on consequences of that deed, according to rules he had established to run the universe. He undertakes to protect his ardent devotees from facing any kind of pain/loss/insult, provided he/she has completely surrendered unto him and harbours no hope from anyone else. When Dushasan was about to humiliate Draupadi, she pleaded with everyone to come to her rescue, but none extended any help. Finally, she called upon Lord Srikrishn, and help was there to protect her modesty.

Lord Srikrishn is omnipresent, but still remains invisible (both formless and in form) to the majority of people as his form being divine, cannot be seen by physical eyes. He can be realized through meditation with any of the emotions of love, hatred or fear. All three  emotions lead to equal and similar end result, - unison with Lord Srikrishn. Love is however, considered to be the most beneficial and important, because those who meditate upon him through hatred or fear spend their lives with an unstable heart until their last breath. Lord Srikrishn proclaims that He values love more than any relation. He blessed Radha that her name would be remembered prior to His name. That is why people chant Radhe-Lord Srikrishn and not vice versa. He reveals his absolute knowledge and form to Arjuna during Mahabharat war. The other four Pandav were present nearby, and had same relation with Lord Srikrishn, but he selected Arjuna because of the latter’s love for Him. (Verse 47, Chapter 11, The Bhagwat Geeta). Similarly Radha is privileged to be worshipped most with Him instead of his eight wives as he wanted to convey the supremacy of love over relations. We have innumerable Radha- Srikrishn temples and very few of Rukmani- Srikrishn temples.

Lord Srikrishn undertook the responsibility to take care of his lovers and their needs. However minute these might be. He provides what his devotees desire and protects what they have already acquired (Verse 22, Chapter 9, The Bhagwat Geeta). He also goes ahead to bear the brunt of Gandhari’s anger after she loses her hundred sons in war, deliberately because he wanted to save his beloved Arjuna and the Pandav brothers from Gandhari’s curse.

Among all religions across the globe, Lord Srikrishn is the first person and till date the last one to declare himself as God. (Verse 29, Chapter 5, the Bhagwat Geeta). He goes further to tell Arjuna that “Ignore every religion, surrender before me. I guarantee to liberate you.”  (Verse 66, Chapter 18, The Bhagwat Geeta).

Shree Lord Srikrishn, The Supreme man, incarnated with all his 16 kalas, He displayed all his powers and performed leela to its perfection in all roles he played; from a son to a friend, a lover, a husband, a father, a guide, a king and God.  The book describes His leela in detail giving wide coverage to different shades of his personality, which I am sure, everyone will enjoy reading.

My compliments to Ms. Manjula Saxena for enriching us with facets of Lord Srikrishn’s leela. She focuses on the same from the very beginning of His existence; which has enveloped all creation including Radha, Meera, Ramkrishn Paramhans and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to her own personal experiences.

PREFACE

I was born in a family where Lord Srikrishn was the cynosure of all elders’ eyes. My maternal grandfather did not eat or drink anything without offering it with Tulasi leaf to Lord Srikrishn. He had a small room  exclusively for Lord Srikrishn worship, where he would wake Him up in the morning with the chanting of  mantra, bathe Him, smear sandalwood paste on his forehead, dress Him with bright attire and offer Him a breakfast of butter and candy. Little Lord Srikrishn along with His brother Balaram was regularly offered meals with proper prayers. At night, He had to be put in a suitably sized bed, which had tiny cushions, silken pillows and glittering sheets to comfort Him, preceded by a devotional prayer. Whenever my grandfather was away, the task of taking care of little Lord Srikrishn brass idol was relegated to me. I enjoyed doing it, but I always felt a bit resistant inwardly. Whenever I put him in bed at night I always prayed, “Please do not go to sleep. If you fall asleep then who would take care of us all?” However, being the youngest in a highly disciplinarian family, I dared not express my doubt. So, whenever I went to sleep, I used to remind him, “Please remain awake and take care of me and my belongings, as I want to relax”. I tested his words enshrined in Bhagavad-Gita sundry of times and he never failed me, except sometimes it took me years to realize that whatever he did was for my ultimate welfare only. But I profusely cursed him whenever he disappointed me.

I can never forget one incident when Lord Srikrishn proved his sincerity to an almost unbelievable extent in taking care of my belongings. I had just passed out of college and wanted to give a competitive exam to get a job. The place where I lived in Bareilly was a suburb without any bookshop. I started out with my brother to go to the main market. As soon as I reached the bus stop, I suddenly discovered that my golden earring was missing from its place. I knew that if I told my brother about it, he would ask me to go home and find it first. But I did not want to delay the purchase of my books. So I quietly took out another earring and put it in my purse lest I should be caught with a missing earring. “Please take care of my golden ring as I cannot afford to go back home at this moment", I prayed and moved on. I completed my purchase of the books and reached home three hours after starting out. To my utter amazement, I found that the golden earring was lying on the roadside in front of my house. Several persons must have passed by but still it was lying there as unnoticed as a stone. I was overwhelmed with relief and wonder. Such is the reliability of Lord Lord Srikrishn.

My maternal and paternal grandmothers also worshipped Lord Srikrishn regularly. My paternal grandmother was fond of feasting well, in the name of worship. Her mantra was-“Ram naam laddu, Gopal naam kheer, Hari ka naam misri to ghol ghol pee” This means –“Chanting name of Lord Ram is akin to eating a laddu, chanting name of Gopal is akin to eating kheer, chanting name of Hari is akin to eating candy so have it as much as you can!” She would offer sweetmeats to laddu Gopal and ring a brass bell as a custom to draw the attention of God and enjoy the sweets with added bliss.

My paternal grandfather was an epicurean who enjoyed the theatrical works of Shakespeare and Kalidas alike. He was blessed with literary talent himself and enjoyed renowned status in his circles for composing poetry in English, Hindi and Urdu alike. I was fond of discussing things with him. He held Lord Srikrishn in high esteem for he was a superman who could make thousands of damsels swoon over him, unlike the Prince of Ayodhya - Ram who roamed around in woods shedding tears for his single wife Sita. A painting depicting Lord Srikrishn stealing clothes of Gopis bathing in river Yamuna decorating the wall in front of his bed could not go unnoticed from the eyes of any visitor.

The tradition to rely on Lord Srikrishn in the moments of celebration and suffering alike continues as such in the entire family.

This book is a tribute to Lord Srikrishn for whatever he has bestowed upon me. I say so with utmost honesty that there is not a single wish of mine that he did not fulfill so secretly and generously. However, he always apprised me of his plan whenever things did not move as per my wish. Therefore, there is little to complain. One who gives has a right to direct too.

My sons Ankush and Anshul contributed greatly in composing this book as their constant demands to listen to new bed time stories pushed me to go through various Purans. I am also grateful to my husband Sanjay who shouldered domestic responsibilities while I sat glued to the computer screen to write this book.

My heartfelt thanks to Mr. Bill Gates who provided Microsoft Word that has made writing a pleasant experience.

THE SEED OF CREATION

Krishn in Sanskrit means the seed of creation. For 'Kris' implies entirety or absolute and 'na' implies the seed. Lord Srikrishn is therefore, construed as the Cause of creation, Creation itself and End of creation. He himself professes in Bhagavad-Gita   -- "I am the beginning, middle and end of all creatures."(Verse 20 chapter x)  He is therefore, the primal man, the first man who manifests himself at his free will and then creates his eternal consort Radha with whose help he creates other deities and goddesses to further expand the creation. Lord Srikrishn is superior to all deities in hierarchy. According to Vedas all other deities can be attained through siddhis but him. For he, enjoys his free will. Only with devotion and deepest love, can he be seen and met. In recent period, Mirabai merged into him, while performing keertan in the temple. His that idol is still worshipped in the temple of Ranachhor Raiji in Gujarat. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who used to go in bhav samadhi while performing keertan also merged with him in Jagannatha temple in Orissa.
In Bhagavad-Gita Lord Srikrishn says to Arjun, -"Be my devotee and invest the mind with me, greet me. Be one with me thus completely. Such a devotee becomes one with me."(Verse34 chapter IX)Mira and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu are the examples of veracity of words enshrined in Bhagvadgita.

Radha is the power and desire of Lord Srikrishn. Lord Srikrishn created her in his Raasmandala with the desire of expanding creation. The letters - ‘ra’ denote Raasmandala and as she spontaneously rushed to pour flowers on the path of Lord Srikrishn, the letters 'dha' have been derived from root verb 'dhav' which in Sanskrit means,' to run'.  Radha followed Lord Srikrishn with flowers as he pranced through GOLOK, his divine abode. She was therefore, christened Radha by Lord Srikrishn, a name by which she is known universally. All deities and goddesses worship her as consort of Lord Srikrishn and Mother of Universe. She is the greatest of yoginis. Through her spiritual power, she created several beings to fill the Golok with beauty and life. From her body pores issued billions of gopis who are blessed and beautiful like her. They are naturally accomplished in various arts, music, dance and drama. Lord Srikrishn issued billions of Gopa from his body pores that dwell in Golok and perform various tasks as ordained by their lord. Lord Srikrishn offered his deepest love and veneration towards Radha that has been narrated in various treatises composed by enlightened seers.
To profess her highest status, Lord Srikrishn himself worshipped her in the Raasmandala of Golok. The stotra that Lord Srikrishn composed in her praise is quintessence of loftiness of feminine power that shares greater role than the masculine power in creation, sustenance and destruction of the creation.
Lord Srikrishn is such an egoless charmer that all females long for his association. Once it so happened that Radha spotted Lord Srikrishn in Tulasivana with a Gopi named Tulasi in Golok. Determined to teach Lord Srikrishn a lesson, the envious queen immediately withdrew all females from everywhere and disappeared herself too.
Even Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv found themselves helpless to find their counterparts missing. Life became impossible all over the creation as only males were there all around. No mother, no wife, no sister, no daughter could be seen anywhere. The world turned colourless and lifeless. All were in awe and helplessly prayed to various divine powers and energies to rescue them from the callous calamity. Even trinity became defunct in the absence of their counterparts. All poor men invoked the three lords who themselves having been rendered powerless and incomplete ultimately reached Golok to seek refuge in Sri Lord Srikrishn. When all fervently prayed, Lord of Golok appeared before them. Whatever be the scene behind the curtain, the powerful person maintains perfect poise in front of the guests. So  did the lord of world expressed great concern and care to his expectant guests and convinced them that soon their suffering will come to an end. Having assured them thus the culprit Lord Srikrishn sat down to pray to Radha to reappear and issue all females to save the creation. But the female is expert in proving her dignity at the appropriate moment. Lord Srikrishn focussed on her and said, - “O, the lovely faced! Although I am dearest to you and you too profess your utmost love to me, now you have shown your true colours. In the moments of intimacy you always used to say, -‘O Lord Srikrishn you are my life. You are the ever existent soul of all beings.’ Where have all your revelations vanished now?
O! Mother of Universe! Now you have proved that you have merely been taking me for a ride as the heart of females is as sharp as a razor’s edge....
But listen! Whatever I say is ever as true as the status of the polestar in the sky. You rule over my breath and dearer to me then my own life.......
I am not capable of protecting you. Deprived of your association, my life is coming to an end for who can survive when the goddess ruling over his life deserts him?.....
You are the Mother Goddess of Maha Vishnu, origin of nature, manifest as all properties but actually are away from all properties. You manifest yourself as light. You are formless consciousness and appear in form only to grace your devotees.......
You take to several forms only to bless your deserving devotees.......
You are Mahalakshmi in Vaikunthalok, Mother Bharati of pious souls in Bharata, You are Sati, You are Parvati, You are Tulasi, and you are Ganga. You are Savitri in Lord Brahmalok. You are Goddess Earth......
In Golok, you are the mother of all cowherds. Deprived of your association, I have become almost dead.  I am unable to do anything......
Lord Shiv is powerful only in your association. He is as good as a corpse without you. When you accompany Lord Brahma as Savitri, he                   becomes progenitor of Vedas. When you join Lord Vishnu as Lakshmi, he becomes lord of three spheres and sustains creation.
Yajna yields auspicious rewards only when you join Yajna as Dakshina....
For Shesha you are goddess Earth whom he bears over his hood. When you join Lord Shiv as Ganga, he is known as bearer of Ganga......
The entire cosmos is filled with energy that is you. Without you creation is dead.
When you take to the form of speech, one becomes an eloquent orator. When you desert, even an enlightened person becomes dumb....
As a potter makes pots with earth, so am I capable of creating universes only with your association.
But without you I too have become inert because you manifest yourself as all forms of power. Please come to me soon......
In fire, you are the power to burn; in moon you are moonlight. Without you moon cannot shine.
In sun you are light. Kamdeva can be of no use when you do not join him as Rati. (You are the desire with cupid).
When desire goes away, Cupid can do nothing.”
Seeing Lord Srikrishn appreciating her virtues and professing her due status, innocent queen of Golok shed her wrath and began to beam with a triumphant joy. Thus pleased by the officious entreaties of Lord Srikrishn, Radha reappeared and issued all females to fill the creation with life, beauty and delight.
Lord Shiv chanted this stotra and got Parvati as his ideal consort. Lord Brahma also learnt it and got Savitri as his wife.

Not only Lord Srikrishn worshipped Radha with such praise and devotion he also wears a divine shield to fortify himself against the negative forces. The kavach (chanting mantra with touching the concerned part to invoke divine energy) he wears around his throat is:
‘Ohm Radhaye Swaha’ may this mantra shield my head.
‘Ohm Hreem, Shreem, Radhikaye Swaha’ may this mantra shield my skull, both of the eyes and both of the ears.
‘Um Ehm, Hreem, Shreem, Radhikaye Swaha’ may this mantra shield my forehead and hair.
‘Ohm Ram Radhikaye Swaha’ may this mantra shield my cheeks, nose and mouth.
Kleem.Hreem,  Srikrishnpriyaye Namah’ may this mantra shield my throat.
‘Ohm, Ram Raseshwarye Namah’ may this mantra shield my shoulders.
‘Ohm Vrindavanvilasinye Namah’ may this mantra shield my chest.
‘Ohm Tulasivanavasinye Namah’ may this mantra shield my hips.
“Ohm  Srikrishnpranadhikaye Namah’ may this mantra shield my legs and feet from all sides.
May goddess Radha shield     me in East;  Srikrishnapriya in northwest; Raseshwari in south;  Gopisha in north-east;Nirguna in west; Srikrishnapujita in south east;Moolaprakriti in north; Sarveshwari in south-west.
May the omniscient and worshipped by all, mother of Maha Vishnu shield me in water, on earth and in sky during dream, sleep and awakening”
The stotra created by Lord Srikrishn was learnt by other deities who fulfilled their wish of winning an ideal consort by chanting the same stotra. Lord Brahma got Savitri as his consort; Lord Shiv got Durga; Lord Vishnu got Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganga and Tulasi as his beloved wives. Sage Kashyap got Aditi; God Chandrama got Rohini,( the most beautiful daughter of king Daksh); Kamdeva got Rati and Dharma got Moorti as his favourite wife.
The Lord of Universe set a unique example by unassumingly praising his soul mate-"I say quintessentially that you are dearer to me than my own life. I cannot protect you because you are the goddess who rules over my life. You are the mother of MahaLord Vishnu, the Moolprakriti (Mother Nature), you are formless, take the form of light, manifest yourself for your devotees alone and adopt various forms to please your devotees. I can do nothing without you. You are the cause of creation. As a potter cannot make pots without earth, so am I unable to create anything without you for you are my base and foundation.  As is whiteness in milk; heat in fire; liquidity in water so am I immanent in you. You become lifeless without me and I become invisible without you. Male begets semen and semen begets offspring but female is the base of both. The world cannot continue without both (male and female). We are the seed of world and dwell in each other. You take to the form of Parvati to give Lord Shiv power of annihilation; of Saraswati to give knowledge; of Savitri to enable Lord Brahma ability to create Vedas.  You become Lakshmi to give Lord Vishnu ability to sustain the creation. You alone become Ganga, Tulasi and Prithvi (earth) to sustain the creation. As beauty, brightness, desire and knowledge you pervade the universe. Those who think that we are either superior or inferior to each other are ignorant. For we are actually one, everywhere and in all times. Whatever I am and whatever I do is because of you and your power. It is because of my association with you that I am called Sri Lord Srikrishn.  For Sri implies 'female power."
Lord Srikrishn, not just verbally flattered Radha but actually was the first to worship her with shodash upachara (sixteen offerings) which includes  asana (seat), vastra (garment), padya (washing feet), arghya (offering water), lepan (ointment), gandha (perfume), dhoop (incent sticks), deep (oil amp), pushpa (flowers), snan (water for bathing), abhushan (ornaments), naivaidya (fruits and sweets), tambuljal (water with betel leaves), madhupark (honey) and shaiyya (bed) to honour her as Mother of Universe.
Lord Srikrishn is described as the most handsome of all male deities. He is the one who conquered Kamdeva, the God of conjugal love by performing Maharaas with millions of gopis at the bank of river Yamuna on full moon night ( sharad puurnima) when sun entered in the  zodiac sign of Virgo. He, being the greatest of yogis multiplied his bodies to simultaneously dance with each one of the gopis. Even Lord Brahma who is the lawmaker for earthlings got confused to see Lord Srikrishn dancing with wives of other men. Sensing the confusion hovering over the seer Lord Brahma, Lord Srikrishn disappeared from amongst all the gopis. What Lord Brahma found the next moment were only several forms of Lord Srikrishn dancing with each other. No Gopi was there, such was the feeling of oneness amongst the great souls reeling in divine ecstasy.
Lord Brahma hung his head in shame for he mistook the Lord of lords as an ordinary man swayed by the lust of rejoicing in the company of other women. He realized that the gopis were not ordinary ones but great souls who had performed tapasya for several years in their past lives and wanted to merge with the cosmic spirit through Maharaas. Lord Srikrishn is adept in fulfilling wish of all his deserving devotees.
Lord Srikrishn's attraction is such as the wives of all Devatas and Siddhas who gathered in the sky to see his Maharaas fainted, afflicted with the desire of winning him as their husband. Those celestial women took birth on the earth as human beings. Consequently, Lord Srikrishn, being the reliever and liberator, married all of them when he became the king of Dwarka.  Whatever he does is out of compassion to all beings for only after going through the fulfilment of all mundane desires, can a human being feel satiated and advance further to experience the divine bliss of yog and samadhi.
Lord Srikrishn manifests himself as the most magnetic personality to attract all beings so as to liberate them from the attractions of sense pleasures and elevate them to attain higher spheres of consciousness.  His dusky adolescent body is wrapped in a golden yellow Pitamber. Fragrant with the nectar, yellow flowers decorate his bosom. The flute in his hand symbolizes the human body with seven centres of spiritual awakening. When Lord Srikrishn plays the flute or when he accepts a human being as his devotee, he awakens his seven centres of kundalini shakti and turns that individual into a siddha yogi is the message hidden behind his having a flute with seven openings in his hand and placed against his rosy lips.
His crown is studded with gems and precious stones for he adores the beings of the best quality .The peacock feather placed in his diadem symbolizes that souls who give up the temptation of physical mating like peacock, become honorable in the eye of Lord Srikrishn, the Lord of Universe.

GOLOK
Golok is the highest of all lokas and end of creation. Its beauty and prosperity is beyond imagination of human mind. Even the servitors of Lord Srikrishn enjoy a life filled with celestial beauty, affluence and bliss. The ashrams of Golok glitter with precious gems and gold. The gardens abound in auspicious fruits and flower-laden trees. The hundred peaked mountain named shatshring fortifies the celestial landscape abounding in dense forests, having fruit laden trees embraced by the tender creepers bedecked with dancing peacocks, mellifluously cooing nightingales, lucent bees hovering over pollens and dusky moths humming over blooming lotuses and lilies in the glistening ponds and shining lakes. The lovelorn Gopi of Lord Srikrishn named Virja, having taken to the form of a river, lyrically flows around it mirroring compassion of Lord Srikrishn to his pure devotees. The entire loka resonates with amorous frolics of Sri Radha-Lord Srikrishn and the songs being sung by devoted and deft gopis in the praise of divine parents whose even an evanescent glimpse, being the most enticing, calms down the seer and sets the heart free from all mundane bonds. The celestial nature presents its very best in Golok. This loka is above three lokas of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv. This is the only loka, which is permanent and does not perish even when the entire creation including Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv disappear. Lord Srikrishn dwells here all alone when there is no creation and dwells with Radhaji and others when creation is manifest.
Sacred Cow Surabhi

Once In his raasmandala in Golok, Lord Srikrishn felt de-energised. He therefore, created a celestial cow and sucked her milk. The appearance of the cow was like a breeze of nectar for a thirsty Lord Srikrishn. She was therefore; named Surabhi that implies a resurrecting breeze.

Swans celestial
From the toenails of Lord Srikrishn issued white swans, the manifestation of peace and spiritual discrimination. That is why persons who attain highest status in spiritual practice are called Param Hans, which literally means the best of swans. The divine sound ‘ham – Saa’ is practiced in meditation. One who meditates while chanting these syllables during inhaling and exhaling, attains spiritual progress fast.

River Virja

As Holy River Ganga adds to the charm of magnificent Himalayas, so does river Virja flow around, embracing the Golok of Lord Srikrishn, manifesting her silent surrender to the Lord of Universe. Virja was once a Gopi who deeply adored Lord Srikrishn. Being wholeheartedly devoted only to Lord Srikrishn, the lovelorn Gopi implored him to accept her ardent love. Pleased with her, the omniscient Lord Srikrishn accepted her and married her secretly. Virja got what she sought from the magnanimous Lord Srikrishn. However, alert gopis of queen of Golok did not fail in sneaking out the secrets of an amorous affair of Lord Srikrishn. When Radha learnt of this affair, she got enraged and approached the couple along with her army of belligerent gopis to take Virja and Lord Srikrishn to task.
Sridama, the loyal gopa of Lord Srikrishn stopped Radha from entering the premises of Virja's ashram. Witnessing Radha's apparent invective against Lord Srikrishn, Sridama sounded his master Lord Srikrishn. The army of Radha was determined not to pay heed to Sridama's pleading who was trying hard to stop the flock of angry gopis from entering the ashram of Virja. A fierce battle followed and enraged gopis pushed aside helpless Sridama. Ablaze with wrath, Radha entered the premises of the temple where love-locked Lord Srikrishn and Virja could be spotted. An alert Lord Srikrishn, however immediately disappeared and terrified Virja abandoned her female form to turn into a river, surrounding Golok.
Radha failed to find the duo, and got desolate. She left the Ratigraha (the abode where the couple rejoiced) in fury. As soon as she left, Lord Srikrishn reappeared at the bank of river Virja and called upon his darling, -"Where are you, my beloved Virja? I am dying to see you. Please come out of the river and be a damsel more beautiful then you earlier were. All siddhis are with you. Then, why do you not reappear before me?" Listening to his heart-rending entreaties an exuberant Virja emerged from the river and reappeared before Lord Srikrishn. Having seen Lord Srikrishn's sport before Radha, She glided to him with multiplied charm, looking now as glorious and elegant as Radha. Lord Srikrishn also got more randy this time and embraced her effusively. Virja felt exalted to see Lord Srikrishn aspiring for her. With a desire rekindled by suave Lord Srikrishn, she merged with him mushily. Oblivious of time and space they remained immersed in love for a long time. Virja conceived and begot seven sons. She lived happily with them. Lord Srikrishn used to be with her as promised.
Once it so happened that the youngest son of Virja approached her, crying and complaining about the elder brothers. Lord Srikrishn did not like Virja's reluctance to her sons.  As Virja picked up the crying baby in her arms, Lord Srikrishn moved away and reached for Radha's temple.
After pacifying the son, Virja could not find Lord Srikrishn in her palace. Hurt by his furtive disappearance, she looked for Lord Srikrishn. Restlessly searing with the unbearable  pain of separation from husband, she outburst her anger over her son, cursing him,- "You fool! Better, be a sea of salty water on the earth. No one will drink water from you." Her wrath, not yet contained, having targetted the innocent son, ended only after cursing all other sons. The breaved sons, being so outcast by their mother, cried in anguish but obeyed her and left Golok to become seven oceans on the earth.
Virja fainted with sorrow, having lost her husband and sons altogether. Sporty Lord Srikrishn however, came back to assure her of enjoying the love and status equal to Radha in Golok "You will see your seven sons from here all the time. I will also definitely come to you regularly." A loving Lord Srikrishn consoled her in various ways to comfort her.
Radha’s alert and prompt servitors overheard his words of promise to Virja and narrated the tale to Radha. Turning green with jealousy, she entered her Kopabhavan (a room where angered queens entered to demonstrate their ire) immediately.
Having pacified and pleased Virja, Lord Srikrishn reached Radha's palace along with Sridama, his personal aide. He did not find his queen in a cheerful and welcoming mood. Radha was helplessly grilling in fury. On seeing Lord Srikrishn, Radha threw a scornful glance at him and shouted, -"O Hari !  Why have you come here? You have several wives in Golok. Better, go to them. What am I to you? Your beloved Virja who has become a river out of fear of me is still dear to you for you go to her even now.  It is better that you also make your shelter at her bank or become a rivulet. For people belonging to the same clan enjoy best with each other. Those who worship you hardly know you! Ah, people will smile at you when they learn that the Lord of Universe wants to make love with a river!" The venom instilled by the servitors exuded through her speech. Her millions of maids stood witness to this melodrama where lord of creation was being lynched domestically. Her battery of attendants was all ears, awaiting her decree.
Lord Srikrishn could give a try to persuade his possessive wife but the array of instigating gopis stopped Lord Srikrishn from going even near Radha. The besotted Radha went on boiling with wrath. "Get out of my palace right now. You have been behaving like a lecherous man. Better leave Golok and be a man on the earth.” She irrupted her thought less decree, cursing Lord Srikrishn and asking her attendants to remove the impudent sly from her sight.

Her insinuating maids showered a nonplussed Lord Srikrishn with a colourful volley of suggestions." Better leave her alone, we shall bring you back when her anger is over," said one." Serve her and persuade her," advised another. "Better go to any of your other wives," sarcastically remarked the third mentor..
Amidst all insulting remarks and innuendoes stood there Lord Srikrishn quiet, smiling and unperturbed.   Being a yogi and enlightened master, he chose not to respond at all. He rather quietly slipped away, from the sight of fretting and fuming Radha. However, his devout gopa Sridama could not tolerate Radha's anger and invidious speech, replete with insulting words for his favourite master. He could not help but react sharply, -"Mother, you are in vain denigrating my master. You should not rap my lord like this. Don't you know that my Lord is the Master of Universe? Whatever status and power you are enjoying is because of him. He is capable of creating universes and millions of goddesses like you. You should know that even Lord Brahma, Lord Shiv, Shesha and Dharma serve him. Saraswati and Lakshmi long for his grace to serve him and sing in his praise. You and all other deities and goddesses are under his command." The insult heaped upon Lord Srikrishn boomeranged back upon Radha through effusive catharsis of Sridama.
But Radha was still beside herself. "You! You blind devotee of your Lord! You always take side of your father and neglect your mother. You behave like a demon so better be a danav on the earth." The lolling flames of fire of wrath of queen of Golok engulfed innocent Sridama.  As collision of clouds results in lightning and then in downpour, so did the soaring tantrums of seething Radha flashed and then dropped down soon. Tears began to stream down her innocuous eyes. Her words had however, aroused Sridama to such a point of ire, that he also cursed her back. "You are also showing anger like a human being. Because of my curse, you shall be born as a woman on the earth. You will become the wife of Rayan vaishya in Vrindavan. Later on you will meet Lord Srikrishn and have separation from him for hundred years. After that you will come back to Golok." Sridama retaliated and walked out of the palace of Radha in fury.
He approached Lord Srikrishn and busted into tears as he narrated the entire episode before his great master. However, Lord Srikrishn being omniscient remained calm and advised him to cool down. He maintained poise and after a prolong silence broke the ice in his serene voice, -"Sridama! It is time for you to go to the earth. You will be invincible even for deities. After Shankar will hit you with his trident, you will leave that body.  For fifty yugas you will remain on the earth." Words of the great master divulged the denouement of a preconceived plan. Loyal Sridama was taken aback by the cool candour of his quintessentially prankster master.
Meanwhile realization dawned upon Radha also that she had uttered unreasonably hurting words towards innocent Sridama. Regret over powered her. As if suddenly awakened from slumber, she swiftly followed him and reached where Lord Srikrishn and Sridama were sitting in a pensive mood.  As she saw Sridama preparing to leave Golok she felt low. Repentance flowed through her lips, -"Son, where are you going? Come back, please." A tranquil Sridama however, firmly followed the command of his sporty Lord of Golok without an iota of hitch.

The mother of Golok was inconsolable like a voluble river for having lost her son. The father was yet as calm as a mighty ocean. Aware of all and everything, he rose to comfort the beguiled mother by telling that there was no reason for her to worry, as Sridama would ultimately come back to Golok in due course. He further disclosed that she, as cursed by Sridama and he, himself as cursed by her, would also have to take birth on the earth in the time to come. The revelations of Lord Srikrishn came as a bolt from the blue for the already remorseful queen of Golok. Radha fainted with sorrow. The speech of Master of Universe could not be belied, she knew. What had taken place was indeed painful but even more searing was the saga of suffering that she had to go through in the time to come. The very notion that she would have to live separately from Lord Srikrishn on earth that too, as the wife of some other man, numbed her spirit. She had won Lord Srikrishn after long penance and austerities. His loving inclination to her was the sole cause of her ebullience. She considered only herself as equal to him in all respects. But such a brazen and cruel sport of her husband Lord Srikrishn shattered her pride. To her the future was a long tunnel filled with limitless murk.  How could she imagine her existence without Lord Srikrishn, her soul mate?
Lord Srikrishn was however, seemingly not moved. Established in perfect peace and poise he watched the pride of Radha melting and flowing into streams of tears. Radha was helplessly shedding tears. She prayed to Lord Srikrishn to find a way out, as she was unable to bear separation from him even in Golok. Lord Srikrishn appeared too callous to her yet she was helpless having no other way to console herself. Heartfelt prayers and true entreaties do not go waste, proved the serene Lord of Golok by offering assurance that although she would be separated from him for hundred human years, he would marry her secretly on the earth. "You will enjoy my company every night but will remain in Rayan's house with your illusory body. I will perform many other tasks there and then join you after hundred years and bring you back to Golok along with our other kith and kin. Fear not and give up the worry for no one can ever separate us." Finally came out the words of conviction Radha longed to hear from the lips of Lord Srikrishn who had otherwise been creating ripples of uncertainty all along. He had tested her patience too scathingly. Insecurity and jealousy had been devouring her mind ever since she heard of his secret amorous affair with Gopi Virja.

Affection flowed from the heart of Lord Srikrishn ultimately, -"We are one and the same everywhere and always. As a jeweller cannot make ornaments without gold, so can I not create anything without you. We are one and alike," reiterated Lord Srikrishn to assure a besotted Radha. Her ears had received the assurance yet she felt forlorn. Lord Srikrishn, well aware of her plight gave her comforting embraces to assuage her fear and anxiety. As the glimpse of a rising sun dispels the numbness of chilling night so did consoling speech of Lord Srikrishn dispel the darkness of gloom that was shrouding the confused mind of queen of Golok.
